Activist Nijdad Ibrahim has not been in contact with his family for more than three weeks. The defense managed to confirm the transfer of the activist to a punishment cell, however, the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan did not clarify the reasons for the punishment.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in July 2025, a court in Baku sentenced activist Nijdad Ibrahim to 6.5 years in prison. He did not plead guilty, and the defense appealed the verdict. On October 6, 2025, the appellate court upheld the verdict.

In Azerbaijan, activist Nijdad Ibrahim, held in correctional facility N10, has not been in contact with his family members for 25 days. The activist's wife, Parvin Ibrahim, believes he has been in a punishment cell all this time.

"The last time we communicated with Nijdad via video call was on June 6. After that date, he has not been in contact — neither by video nor by regular phone," said Parvin Ibrahim, who is abroad with the children, to a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot".

She noted that two weeks ago, lawyer Zibeida Sadigova managed to find out from the Penitentiary Service that the activist had been placed in a punishment cell. "Lawyer Zibeida Sadigova was told that Nijdad was put in a punishment cell. However, the reason for this was not named. I am worried about Nijdad's health; after his arrest, he made several suicide attempts. We received unofficial information from the colony that in the punishment cell he hit his head hard in protest. The administration of the colony and the penitentiary service are evading providing official information about his condition," said Parvin Ibrahim.

She said she personally wrote to the ombudsman's office but received no response. "Lawyer Zibeida Sadigova has been calling the hotline of the ombudsman's office for several days, but there is no information about her husband," said the activist's wife.

Lawyer Sadigova briefly noted in a conversation with a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" that she is trying to find out whether Nijdad Ibrahim remains in the punishment cell and to obtain information about his health condition.
