A Ukrainian living in Kuban has been accused of spying and directing drones to Tuapse.

A military court in Rostov-on-Don will hear the case of an elderly Ukrainian citizen accused of espionage and financing terrorism. According to security forces, the man was involved in the strikes on "fuel and energy facilities" in Tuapse.

The accused Ukrainian citizen is 62 years old and holds a Russian residence permit. The prosecution describes him as an "opponent of the SVO." He is charged with participation in a terrorist organization, financing terrorism, and espionage (Part 2 of Article 205.5, Part 1.1 of Article 205.1, and Article 276 of the Russian Criminal Code). The charge of financing terrorism carries a prison sentence of eight to fifteen years, while the other two charges carry sentences of ten to twenty years.

According to the prosecution, the man, while in Novorossiysk, made five non-cash money transfers between February 5 and June 10, 2024, to a certain "commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces." The total amount of these transfers exceeded 186,000 rubles. He made another transfer of over 279,000 rubles, this time to a "Ukrainian military-technology company," on October 14, 2024. The funds were intended "to commit terrorist acts on the territory of the Russian Federation," the Kuban Prosecutor's Office asserted on its Telegram channel.

The prosecution also believes that between August 23 and 25, 2024, the man passed on "information he had collected about the location of fuel and energy facilities" in Tuapse to members of a certain terrorist organization. FSB investigators and prosecutors believe the intelligence mission's purpose was to strike these targets.

The criminal case will be heard on its merits in the Southern District Military Court. The name of the accused and the terrorist organization he is accused of involvement with were not disclosed in the prosecutor's statement. The agency noted that the charges against the Ukrainian, taken together, could carry a life sentence.

Caucasian Knot has no comment from the accused or his lawyer regarding the prosecution's case.

Caucasian Knot also reported that a military court in Rostov-on-Don is hearing the case of a Gelendzhik resident accused of involvement in a terrorist organization, public justification of terrorism, and espionage.

In March, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced 62-year-old Lieutenant Colonel of the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergency Situations Igor Lominoga to 14 years in a maximum-security prison, finding him guilty of treason. At the end of May, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced 49-year-old Ukrainian-Russian citizen Alexandra Krasnikova to 15 years in prison under the same article.
