Chegem residents called on officials to resolve the water supply problem.

Many streets in Chegem regularly go without water this summer, a local resident complained on social media, demanding that officials address the issue. Other residents supported his demand in the comments, suggesting that the water shortages are due to the fact that water is used for irrigation.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," residents of Kabardino-Balkaria regularly complain about water supply problems. In particular, residents of Nalchik, Baksan, and Chegem have repeatedly complained about water supply problems. In Baksan, Nalchik, and the Baksan, Lesken, Zolsky, and Urvan districts, there has been a long-standing water supply problem, and appeals to authorities have yielded no results, local residents complained on social media as early as July 14, 2024. According to one Chegem resident, the city experiences water supply problems every weekend. The complainant assumed it was due to accidents.

"It's Saturday morning, busy with household plans, and the tap water is silent," wrote a Chegem resident, whose appeal was published on June 20 by the Instagram* public page goloskbr.

"Dear Vodokanal and the Chegem administration, please explain this simple thing to us residents: if a pipe bursts on one street, then why is the entire city left without water?" the complainant asked.

He clarified that residents on dozens of streets are left without water, unable to buy food, wash clothes, or bathe their children. "Let us spend our weekends like normal people, not like a 'dry law,'" a Chegem resident quipped.

This post on the Instagram* group goloskbr, which has about 187,000 followers, had 75 likes and 18 comments as of 9:50 AM Moscow time on June 22.

Some commenters doubted that the water outages were due to accidents. "Is it an accident?" user pomosch.ru asked. "It's not an accident, but those who planted apple trees are taking the water." "There's no water anywhere in the villages," wrote zalina164.

Another group of users expressed the opinion that the water in Chegem is being shut off because it is used for irrigation.

"There was an order from the commander, so apples and gardeners are our everything. Otherwise, write straight to the prosecutor's office. Good luck," noted nkhamokova.

Other commenters expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Chegem residents are left without water supply due to irrigation.

"I'm so tired of it all, the same thing every year. Garden waterers, please! There are people besides you and your gardens who need water. Water your gardens at night or use barrels; don't be stingy. "You're collecting all the curses in the world," said user taulu072.

"I swear, it's really annoying! There's water, no power, there's power, no water," complained user pomosch.ru. "And they charge five thousand a month," noted astema23567.
