A native of Stavropol received a prison sentence in a case of ISIS financing*.

A military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Arsen Biymurzaev, a native of the Stavropol Territory, to ten years in prison, finding him guilty of collecting 2.7 million rubles to finance the activities of militants of an international terrorist organization.

The Southern District Military Court has been hearing Biymurzaev's criminal case since February. He was charged with aiding terrorist activity and financing terrorism (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code), which carries a sentence of eight to fifteen years in prison.

According to the prosecution, Arsen Biymurzaev organized a fundraiser to support the activities of the banned international terrorist organization "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant"*. The collection took place over the course of a year and a half, from April 27, 2019, to October 21, 2020. Biymurzaev published videos "on a religious theme" and his bank card details on social media, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported.

The court found that various social media users transferred 2,769,647 rubles to Biymurzaev's cards. The defendant then transferred these funds to the bank accounts of members of a terrorist organization.

The court sentenced Biymurzaev to 10 years in prison, with the first three years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.

The Stavropol Krai Prosecutor's Office also published a statement about the sentencing of a 31-year-old "adherent of radical views" from the Kursk District, without naming the convicted person. The agency's statement indicated that 2.7 million rubles were also collected from him for state revenue.

The regional Investigative Committee, in turn, reported that the convicted man collected the funds "under the guise of charitable activity" and not until October, but until December 2020. "He fully admitted his guilt in the crime and repented of his actions," the agency stated on its Telegram channel.

Arsen Biymurzaev's details were added to the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists in July 2025, according to a Telegram bot tracking updates to the list. According to the record, Biymurzaev was born in September 1994 in the village of Aga-Batyr in the Kursk district of Stavropol.

For example, the court sentenced Dagestan resident Albina Magomedova to eight and a half years in prison for transferring more than 818,000 rubles to ISIS* activities. The same term was previously sentenced Dagestan resident Khalid Asadulaev for a cryptocurrency transfer.
