Two fighters from the Volgograd region were killed in Ukraine.

Contract soldier Igor Agapov and mobilized soldier Dmitry Kryzhko were killed in combat in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 1,793 soldiers from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in it.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by May 25, at least 1,791 soldiers from the Volgograd region were officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

On May 25, memorial plaques with the names of Igor Agapov and Dmitry Kryzhko, killed in the military operation, were unveiled on the facade of the Ust-Gryaznukhinskaya School, the Kamyshinsky District Administration reported on its Telegram channel.

Igor Agapov was born in 1980. "In 2022, Igor married and later became the happy father of a newborn daughter. On November 18, 2024, he joined the ranks of the SVO volunteers, and on December 23, after suffering multiple injuries in an explosion, he died," the publication states.

Dmitry Kryzhko, born in 1992, was mobilized in 2022. "On February 19, 2024, Dmitry died while carrying out a combat mission. He is survived by his mother, sisters, brothers, and son. He is buried in the Ust-Gryaznukhinsky rural cemetery," authorities reported.

On September 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin announced a "partial mobilization." On October 28 of that year, the Minister of Defense reported to the President on its completion, but no corresponding decree followed. After the mobilization was announced in regions of southern Russia, attempts were recorded to mobilize people who, due to age or health, should not be sent to the combat zone.

Thus, at least 1,793 soldiers from the Volgograd Region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

Earlier, the death of soldiers from the Kamyshinsky District was reported on May 16. Then, authorities reported handing over awards to the relatives of three servicemen killed in combat.
