The case of Volgograd blogger Alexey Ulyanov, accused of extortion, has been referred to court.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," blogger Alexey Ulyanov, detained by security forces in Volgograd, was hospitalized after being arrested on extortion charges, and was then transferred to a detention center. According to investigators, he demanded money for not posting information undesirable for businessmen. On December 4, 2025, he was arrested for two months. On May 25, the court remanded him in custody.

The case of public figure and blogger Alexei Ulyanov has been referred to the court, Kommersant reported on May 26.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Volgograd Region, the investigation has been completed. Ulyanov is charged with extortion, including extortion committed by a group of individuals on an especially large scale (Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Ulyanov's property, worth over two million rubles, has been seized.

According to investigators, beginning in 2020, Alexei Ulyanov demanded monetary compensation from the heads of organizations and individuals for not disseminating defamatory information. The amounts he intended to receive ranged from 100,000 to 6 million rubles. In one instance, the blogger, along with the owner of an anonymous internet channel, who is currently a defendant in another criminal case, conspired to demand and subsequently receive 6 million rubles from a businessman, threatening to continue publishing defamatory materials. In another case, he extorted 100,000 rubles from the head of another company for not posting defamatory information, but was refused.
