Sergei Simonenko's case has been submitted to the Rostov court.

A court in Rostov-on-Don has accepted the case of Sergei Simonenko, former deputy head of the Kuban Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and his subordinate, accused of attempted murder.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in February, the case of Sergei Simonenko, former deputy head of the Kuban Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Melko Dzhemo, former head of the Seversky District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was sent to the Proletarsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don. The court made this decision at the request of the prosecutor's office, which requested a change in the territorial jurisdiction of the case and a transfer of the hearing to another region.

The criminal case against Sergei Simonenko and Melko Dzhemo was submitted to the Proletarsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don, Kommersant reported on May 19.

According to the case file on the court's website, the materials were received on May 18 and have already been transferred to the judge. The case file was updated on May 19. As of 8:30 a.m. Moscow time on May 20, the date of the first hearing has not been specified.

As a reminder, the victims in the case include a former Ministry of Emergency Situations employee—Simonenko's subordinate—and his relatives. The case against Simonenko has been combined with the case of three of his possible accomplices. According to investigators, Yevgeny Kauts, Dmitry Nadzha, and Aleksandr Plotnikov threw Molotov cocktails into the victims' yard in Korenovsk on February 28, 2019, causing two cars to burn.

Simonenko's property seized amid criminal case

In August 2025, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction in Sochi upheld the decision of the Krasnodar Regional Court, which seized Sergei Simonenko's property and funds totaling 360 million rubles in favor of the state.

According to the prosecutor's office, Simonenko abused his official position to enrich himself illegally, registering the property in the names of relatives and trusted individuals. Simonenko himself claimed to have inherited money from his father, who headed the Kuban experimental farm.

In March 2025, a court in Sochi denied Sergei Simonenko's wife the unfreezing of her bank accounts, which had been frozen as part of a criminal case. Svetlana Simonenko requested that the accounts be unfrozen so she could receive money equal to the subsistence minimum for each family member. The courts also denied Svetlana Simonenko's request to unfreeze her real estate.
