A teenager from Stavropol was arrested for attempting to set fire to a train car in Novosibirsk Oblast.

A 17-year-old youth from Stavropol Krai, under the influence of scammers, attempted to set fire to a train car at Inskaya Station in Novosibirsk Oblast. The attempt failed, and the youth was detained.

According to the Eastern Interregional Transport Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, on May 14, the youth, acting on instructions from unidentified individuals posing as law enforcement officers, attempted to set fire to a freight car parked on the tracks. However, the intensity of the fire was insufficient, so the arson attempt failed, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on its Telegram channel on May 15.

The young man realized he was committing something illegal and reported the incident to the police. He has been detained, and a criminal case has been opened under the article on attempted sabotage (Part 3 of Article 30 - Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the press service of the transport police of the Siberian Federal District, the young man fell victim to scammers who sent him malicious links via instant messenger and hacked his Gosuslugi account.

Previously, "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported that at the end of April, three natives of the Rostov region, Vladislav Matukhnenko, Anton Esauenko, and Evgeniya Kudryashova, were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for setting fire to relay cabinets on the railway.
