Villagers in North Ossetia complained about the quality of their drinking water.

Residents of the villages of Kora-Ursdon and Karman-Sindzikau in the Digorsky District of North Ossetia have filed complaints with authorities regarding the quality of their drinking water. Complaints to various authorities, including the district prosecutor's office, have gone unanswered.

According to residents of the Digorsky District, the two villages have been unable to resolve the drinking water quality issue for six years.

A video message from one of the villagers was published on the Telegram channel "Ossetia - [æ]", which has over 30,000 subscribers. By 10:00 PM, the post had garnered over 8,000 views.

"The villages of Kora-Ursdon and Karman-Sindzikau are supplied with poor-quality water. We've made numerous appeals, and we've been told that the Turmon spring has been disconnected from the villages' water supply. The water is shut off for 2-3 days, and then the process starts again. Some time ago, we were connected to water, but it's not drinking water, but irrigation water. There are tests, and there's a ruling from the prosecutor's office that this water is unfit for drinking. The water is still the same as before. What should we do? Who else should we turn to?" a local resident asks. video.

According to him, a statement signed by up to four hundred local residents was sent to the district prosecutor's office.

"Last year, on the eve of the May holidays, the leadership of the district prosecutor's office changed, and I was invited to the Karman-Shinjikau administration. There were people there who introduced themselves as employees of the Digorsky District Prosecutor's Office. They promised to look into the situation: they promised to invite me to the prosecutor's office, go to the scene, document everything, and take appropriate measures. So, to this day, we've been waiting for an invitation for a year. The administration is taking no action. This "pig swill" continues to reach us as drinking water. And the rates are as if we were drinking drinking water," a village resident complained.

Vodokanal rejected the residents' complaints: according to a statement from the company's press service, the water quality is constantly deteriorating. Laboratory tests are conducted regularly, and the water meets sanitary standards.

"The information that Turmon has allegedly been disconnected from the water supply system is not factual. Water flows to the village of Karman-Sindzikau from separate sources—three active artesian wells not connected to the Kora-Ursdon water supply system," the North Ossetia Vodokanal press service said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

According to the company, certain public statements are false and not supported by objective data. "The majority of complaints come from individuals who systematically evade payment for water services, despite regularly consuming the resource," the statement reads.

According to Vodokanal, an abandoned well, which was successfully restored, is currently being prepared for commissioning. It will supply water to the village of Kora-Ursdon and partially to the village of Karman-Sindzikau, which should improve the stability of the water supply.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in the summer, residents of the village of Khurikau in the Mozdsky District experience an acute shortage of drinking water. They complained to the head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, who instructed the leadership of the republic's Vodokanal to resolve the problem.
