Canadian authorities have imposed sanctions against Ramzan Kadyrov's mother.

Five Russian companies and 23 Russian individuals, including the mother of Chechen leader Aymani Kadyrova, have been placed on Canada's sanctions list. Canadian authorities cited the "ideological indoctrination and militarization of Ukrainian children by Russian authorities" as the reason.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, in September 2025, the mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Aymani and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation were placed on the UK sanctions list .

Canadian authorities have imposed sanctions on 23 individuals and five legal entities from Russia, the Canadian government announced today.

The consolidated sanctions list also includes Aimani Kadyrova, the mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, listed under number 1595. The list itself is published on the website of Global Affairs Canada, with the last update dated May 8.

Explaining the reason for Aimani Kadyrova's inclusion on the list, the Canadian government stated that she "has been involved in the unlawful deportation or forced transfer, ideological indoctrination, and militarization of Ukrainian children by Russian authorities."

"Canada calls on the Russian authorities to immediately return the Ukrainian children to their communities and to fulfill their international legal obligations," the press release stated.

On August 24, 2023, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Aymani Kadyrova, the mother of the head of Chechnya, and amended the website entry for the Akhmad Kadyrov Regional Public Foundation, which was already under US sanctions. Ramzan Kadyrov called the sanctions "painless."

On June 24, 2024, the European Union added Aymani Kadyrova and the Kadyrov Foundation to its sanctions list. Ramzan Kadyrov stated that the sanctions merely recognize the mother's achievements. In February 2024, the foreign ministries of Australia and New Zealand updated their sanctions list to include Aymani Kadyrova. The head of Chechnya then said that the sanctions were related to his mother's evacuation of children from the war zone in Ukraine.

The Kadyrov Foundation was created in 2004. Construction of pompous skyscrapers, exorbitant fees for celebrities, and mixed martial arts tournaments are mentioned alongside the usual social and economic projects found in government reports when discussing the foundation's activities. All public sector employees in Chechnya are required to donate approximately 10% of their income to charity every month, according to a "Caucasian Knot" report, "Kadyrov's Foundation: How They Spend 'Money from Allah'."
