A Volgograd resident was arrested for ethnic insults.

A court in Volgograd sentenced a local resident to two five-day prison terms for offensive comments about Jews, Iranians, and Roma.

The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Volgograd arrested 39-year-old local resident Mikhail K. for offensive statements made in a messenger app.

Three cases were heard against the man under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (incitement to hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity). Last June, he left a comment under a post about the rocket attack on Tel Aviv, making negative comments about both Jews and Iranians. Two charges were filed, and the court sentenced him to five days of arrest, Gazeta.ru reported on May 2.

He left another comment under an article about a fight in Neftekumsk between Roma and police officers. This time, he made negative comments about Roma. For this, the court sentenced him to an additional five days of arrest.

It is also known that in March of this year, the same court found the man guilty under the criminal article on public calls for extremist activity using the internet (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Russian Criminal Code).

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that on May 1, a court in Taganrog sentenced a local resident to a suspended two-year prison sentence, finding her guilty of public calls for extremism. She was tried for her comments about the conflict in the Middle East.
