A regional state of emergency has been declared in Tuapse.

The Governor of Krasnodar Krai declared a regional state of emergency in Tuapse, where a fire broke out again at an oil refinery. The state of emergency is in effect throughout the entire Tuapse Municipal District.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," today, in connection with the fire at the oil refinery in Tuapse, residents of nearby houses were evacuated to a temporary accommodation center. Classes were canceled at city schools and two kindergartens. During the fire, petroleum products boiled over and spilled from a storage tank onto the road, damaging several cars.

A regional state of emergency was declared throughout the Tuapse Municipal District on April 28, following orders from Veniamin Kondratyev, Governor of Krasnodar Krai, the Kuban task force reported on its Telegram channel.

Several dozen people were evacuated from homes near the refinery. 31 people, including nine children, were placed in an evacuation center. "If the situation requires it, residents of buildings located near the oil refinery will be accommodated in a hotel," the emergency response team noted.

Earlier, Tuapse residents expressed dissatisfaction on social media that a temporary accommodation center for evacuees was set up in a school, while unoccupied boarding houses, sanatoriums, and hotels could have accommodated people.

The state of emergency is provided for by Federal Law No. 68-FZ of December 21, 1994, "On the Protection of Population and Territories from Natural and Man-Made Emergencies." Depending on the level of emergency, the state may be declared by the head of the city, district, governor, the Russian government, or the president. The authorities' ability to allocate funds from the budget in connection with emergency situations depends on the level of the emergency regime, lawyer Maria Spasibukhova explained to the "Caucasian Knot" in December 2024.
