Former Kuban judge Elena Khakhaleva, who is on the international wanted list, according to her lawyer, lives in Tbilisi, and investigative authorities are aware of this.

As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel", in early April, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar accepted a claim from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to seize the property of former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court Elena Khakhaleva and members of her family, including judge of the Arbitration Court of Krasnodar Krai Natalia Khakhaleva, for state control.

Former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court, who is on the international wanted list Elena Khakhaleva resides in Tbilisi, her lawyer, Yaroslav Krasnoshchyokov, stated in court, TASS reported on April 27.

Krasnoshchyokov confirmed that Khakhaleva is indeed on the wanted list. The lawyer also claims that investigative authorities are aware of her whereabouts.

On May 8, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar will reopen the Prosecutor General's Office's anti-corruption lawsuit regarding the transfer of property belonging to Khakhaleva, her family members, and affiliated entities to the state. New co-defendants have been added to the case, and the scope of the claims has significantly increased, Kommersant reports.

It is reported that 10 individuals and one legal entity have been added as co-defendants, and four more legal entities have been added as third parties. The property of Khakhaleva, her husband, mother, sister, and 36 associated individuals has been seized. Investigators believe that in 2019, Khakhaleva went on business trips that she did not properly document, and her absences were considered absenteeism. In total, she missed 127 workdays, while continuing to receive her salary, and earned 1.2 million rubles during her absence. In December 2021, the High Qualification Collegium of Judges of Russia authorized the initiation of a case against Khakhaleva, a week before Khakhaleva left Russia. In May 2022, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia ordered the initiation of a case against Khakhaleva on charges of official forgery and fraud, and the court ordered her arrest in absentia. On January 27, 2025, Azerbaijani authorities informed the Prosecutor General's Office and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs that Elena Khakhaleva was detained at the Baku airport while attempting to fly to Dubai. In March, she left Azerbaijan for another country, said Shahla Humbatova, Khakhaleva's lawyer.
