Payments to veterans have been increased in Azerbaijan.

The amount of one-time payments to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and equivalent categories of citizens in Azerbaijan has been increased by order of the country's president. The assistance will cover approximately 2,000 people, including 13 direct participants in the war, and will be transferred before Victory Day.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in 2024, the amount of payments to WWII veterans was raised in Azerbaijan for the first time in four years. Veterans were assigned 2,000 manat (about $1,200), and widows of veterans and other categories of recipients received 1,000 manat (about $600). In 2025, benefit amounts were increased by 25 percent – ​​to 2,500 manat (about $1,500) for veterans and 1,250 manat (about $1,750) for other categories.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today signed a decree providing one-time financial assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, widows of those killed in that war, individuals awarded orders and medals for labor in the rear, personnel of special units who carried out assignments in the interests of the army and navy in the rear, and individuals awarded for the defense of Leningrad.

According to the decree, war veterans will receive 2,750 manat (approximately $1,617), and other categories will receive 1,500 manat (approximately $1,882). A total of 3 million manats (approximately $1.764 million) have been allocated from the presidential reserve fund for these purposes, according to an order published on the Azerbaijani leader's website.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the order will affect approximately 2,000 people, including 13 direct participants in the war. The ministry emphasized that the funds will be transferred to bank cards before the holiday.

In 2025, approximately 2,500 people, including 21 veterans, received Victory Day payments. In 2024, approximately 3,000 people, including 30 veterans, received Victory Day payments.
