Social media users debated the suitability of Class II sand for Anapa beaches.

Second-grade sand is being used to fill Anapa's beaches, a representative of the supplier company reported. This sand cannot serve as a full-fledged replacement for sand previously removed from the beaches, according to social media users.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," Anapa authorities plan to deliver new sand to the resort's beaches in four stages, with a total of 90 days allocated for the work. The work on filling the beaches with new sand must be completed by the start of the beach season, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister stated. He added that if the work goes according to plan, the beaches will be open by June 1. Krasnodar Krai authorities reported the start of filling the first section of Anapa's beaches with a 50-centimeter layer of sand in preparation for the resort season.

Beach fill continues at the first of four sites – from the Central Beach to the Bimlyuk Sanatorium. To create an additional layer of at least 50 cm, sand from nearby quarries, which is as close as possible in composition to the local soil, is being supplied, the Krasnodar Krai task force reported.

As Inessa Voloshko, General Director of Ecopromyug LLC, reported in a video attached to the message, the total volume of sand supplied is 481.2 thousand cubic meters of second-class sand. "The quality of each batch of sand is confirmed by laboratory testing," she added.

"To complete the work as quickly as possible, the loading and operation of equipment at the quarry is organized around the clock," Voloshko said.

Second-class sand, according to GOST 8736-2014, is a natural inorganic bulk material with a grain size of up to 5 mm.

In the sand Class II fuel oil is permitted to contain clay and dust particles within 7-10%, according to the website nmstroy.ru.
