An Astrakhan resident was arrested for promoting non-traditional values.

The criminal prosecution of an Astrakhan resident under the extremist activity article was based on an online community he created, which law enforcement officials deemed to promote the rejection of traditional values.

During network monitoring, officers from the Center for Combating Extremism discovered a thematic online community created by an Astrakhan resident. A man born in 1990 administered the community from 2013 to 2025.

According to law enforcement officials, the Astrakhan resident distributed materials banned in Russia. The information was published on social media and was widely accessible.

The community regularly published texts, images, and videos that, according to an expert assessment, fostered a "positive attitude toward non-traditional views" and contained elements of propaganda promoting the "rejection of traditional values." Moreover, the publications were not rated 18+, making them accessible even to minors, the Astrakhan Region Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported on its Telegram channel.

The criminal case is being investigated under the article on participation in the activities of an extremist organization 1 . The accused has been remanded in custody.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of March, an Astrakhan court sent a man to a pretrial detention facility pretrial detention after the investigator deemed his social media posts "propaganda for the LGBT movement's ideology"*. On a similar charge, in December 2025, a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia received 2.5 years of imprisonment.
