More than 13,000 claims for flood damages have been filed by Chechen residents.

The Commission for Assessing the Damage Caused by the Flood in Chechnya has received over 13,000 applications from residents of the republic for compensation.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", as of April 10, more than 12,000 applications for one-time financial assistance have been received from residents of Chechnya whose property was damaged during the flood.

More than 13,000 claims for compensation have been received from Chechen residents whose property was damaged and destroyed during the flooding, Interfax reported on April 13, citing the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the republic.

The department noted that Chechnya is using a simplified approach to providing financial assistance to affected citizens. Furthermore, it is reported that there are currently no flooded houses or plots in the republic.

Flooding caused by heavy rains has been ongoing in the North Caucasus since late March, and has become some of the most destructive in recent years. The disaster caused the greatest damage to Dagestan and Chechnya, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Spring flooding in the North Caucasus-2026". More than 6,200 people were affected by flooding in Dagestan, the head of the republic Sergey Melikov reported on April 7.

Six people died as a result of flooding in Dagestan. Five of them died in the village of Mamedkala in the Derbent district and its environs: a pregnant 17-year-old local resident, a 12-year-old child, a five-year-old girl and her grandmother, as well as 70-year-old Aminat Musayeva, who had been missing for three days. Earlier, on April 5, in the village of Kirki in the Kaytag District, a resident of a house destroyed by a landslide, local village council member Kistaman Mazanova, died.
