A Nalchik resident is suspected of financing an extremist organization.

Officers from the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Center for Combating Extremism reported the arrest of a 31-year-old local resident in connection with a case involving the financing of an extremist organization.

According to investigators, in late 2021, the man transferred funds to a non-profit organization. Law enforcement officials believe he knew that its activities in the Russian Federation had been banned by the court and deemed extremist.

The suspect was detained at his place of residence and taken to the local police department for questioning. During a search of his home, police seized bank cards, a cell phone, and computer equipment, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported on its Telegram channel.

Investigators have opened a criminal case on the grounds of financing extremist activity 1 . "The suspect has been placed under a restraining order not to leave the country and to behave appropriately," the agency said in a statement.

The amount involved and the extremist organization to which the money was transferred were not specified in the statement.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that officers from the FSB Directorate for Kabardino-Balkaria reported the arrest of a 38-year-old local resident in a case of financing terrorism.
