A resident of the Zaporizhzhia region was convicted in Rostov-on-Don for preparing terrorist attacks.

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Andriy Dyachenko, a resident of the Zaporizhzhia region, to 20 years in a maximum security penal colony, finding him guilty of preparing terrorist acts.

According to investigators, Andriy Dyachenko joined a terrorist organization created by Ukrainian armed groups in 2024.

He underwent special training, acquired skills in handling explosives and making improvised explosive devices, 1rnd.ru reported on March 31.

The man purchased components and assembled an IED, planning to blow up a railroad crossing in the area Between the Bolshoy Tokmak and Molochansk stations, as well as the building of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Commissioner's Office. However, he did not have time to do so and was detained.

The court found him guilty of participating in a terrorist organization, preparing a terrorist attack, and illegally handling explosives. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a maximum security penal colony and a fine.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that at the end of January, nine Ukrainian citizens were sentenced to terms ranging from 14 to 20 years for the attempted assassination of Kherson officials.
