Two police officers were injured in a shooting in Dagestan.

An attempt to stop a conflict in the Buinaksk District resulted in injuries to two police officers. The shooter has been detained, and the officers were hospitalized.

The incident occurred this evening in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai in the Buinaksk District. There, security forces attempted to break up a brawl involving several people.

According to the official version, police were driving past the village but noticed a group brawl. They "stopped, attempted to understand what was happening, and stop the conflict," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Dagestan reported.

One of the participants in the brawl opened fire when security forces arrived. Two police officers were hospitalized with injuries. "The suspect, a 31-year-old resident of the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai, has been detained," the department reported.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not specify the motive for the group conflict or the condition of the injured officers, noting only that "all the circumstances of the incident are being investigated."

This attack on security forces was the third since May 2025, when a mass-casualty attack occurred in Makhachkala. Later, the FSB reported that the two militants killed in Dagestan were planning terrorist attacks on a railway line and a religious site.
