A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria is suspected of promoting terrorism.

Investigators have convicted a teenager from the Baksan district of distributing materials justifying terrorist activity and ideology. The young man has been placed under house arrest.

The criminal case against the young resident of Kabardino-Balkaria was based on intelligence from the FSB and police. The defendant lives in the Baksan district and was born in 2007.

The young man is charged with posts he made as a minor. According to investigators, in November and December 2024, the teenager created a public channel on a messenger app and published certain "materials justifying terrorist activity." Law enforcement officers found propaganda for the ideology of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia in his posts, the Investigative Committee of Kabardino-Balkaria reported today.

The agency noted that the court placed the young man under house arrest while the investigation continues. The charge of publicly promoting terrorism via the internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code) carries a sentence of five to seven years in prison.

The Investigative Committee did not name the suspect, but Eldar Kilyarov, a native of Baksan born in 2007, was added to the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists on March 24. Kilyarov will turn 19 on April 25, according to a post by a Telegram bot tracking updates to the list.

Caucasian Knot has not yet received any comments from the suspect or his lawyer regarding the investigation's version of events.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found Chegem District resident Aslan Aloyev guilty of justifying terrorism and sentenced him to a fine of 360,000 rubles. In January 2026, a Moscow court arrested Nalchik businessman Artur Zhakamukhov, who had lived in the United States in recent years and criticized Putin on social media, under the same charge of justifying terrorism.
