A Stavropol resident was sentenced for writing on soldiers' graves.

Ekaterina Zhulenko, a resident of the village of Rostovanovskoye, was sentenced to two years in prison for desecrating the burial sites of participants in the military operation in Ukraine, motivated by hatred or enmity.

According to the court, in March 2025, the Rostovanovskoye resident used a marker pen to write various offensive inscriptions and symbols on the burial sites of servicemen killed during a special military operation, with the intent of desecrating them.

Earlier, the Kursk District Court of the Stavropol Territory sentenced the defendant to two years in a penal colony, finding her guilty of desecrating burial sites, motivated by hatred or enmity. The woman appealed the verdict, but the Stavropol Krai Court, agreeing with the prosecutor's office, upheld the Kursk District Court's verdict, the press service of the Stavropol Krai Prosecutor's Office reported.

The verdict has entered into force, the press service clarified.

According to the criminal case file on the Stavropol Krai Court website, the convicted woman is Ekaterina Zhulenko. The case was received by the court on March 5, and a ruling was issued on March 20.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in July 2025, the court sentenced four Dagestani residents to prison terms in a penal colony. They had previously publicly apologized for desecrating the Eternal Flame in Nevinnomyssk. In March 2024, investigators also opened a criminal case against three residents of the North Caucasus, accusing them of desecrating the Eternal Flame at the "Eternal Glory" obelisk in Nevinnomyssk. In October of that year, the court sentenced all three to one year in a penal colony.
