A Novocherkassk resident is suspected of insulting religious feelings.

The Novocherkassk Investigative Department has opened a criminal case against a local resident suspected of insulting the religious feelings of believers after an online post.

According to investigators, in July 2025, the man posted a message on a public online news channel containing offensive statements and derogatory characterizations of Christians. Investigators believe this publication expressed clear public disrespect for society.

"Investigators are currently taking the necessary steps to collect and secure evidence. All circumstances of the incident and the suspect's motives are being established," according to a statement on the official Telegram channel of the Rostov Investigative Committee.

The Investigative Committee did not specify in its statement what offensive statements were being made or name the news channel where the publication was posted. The agency also did not disclose the measure of restraint chosen for the suspect.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Rostov Regional Court sentenced investigative journalist Sergei Reznik (listed as a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice) to ten years in prison, charging him with extremism, rehabilitation of Nazism, and extortion.
