The number of people evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan has exceeded 2,000.

2,057 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan, including 362 Azerbaijani citizens and 291 Russian citizens.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", from February 28 to March 8, 1,873 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan, including 309 Azerbaijani citizens.

From February 28 to March 9, a total of 2,057 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan, Oxu.az writes.

Among those evacuated were 362 citizens of Azerbaijan, as well as 594 citizens of China, 291 of Russia, 174 of Tajikistan, 137 of Pakistan, 57 of Oman, 44 of Italy, 32 of Indonesia, 29 of Iran, 26 of Spain, 18 of Saudi Arabia, 17 of Japan, 16 of France, 15 of Germany, 13 of Georgia, 12 citizens each of Hungary, Uzbekistan, and Poland, 10 citizens each of Bulgaria, Congo, Nigeria, and Belarus, nine citizens of the United Kingdom, eight Citizens of Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Canada; six each from the UAE, Slovakia, Belgium, and Romania; five each from Serbia, Afghanistan, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Austria; four each from Bahrain, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Turkey, Kuwait, and Bangladesh; three each from the Philippines, Qatar, Mexico, Finland, and Croatia; two each from Nepal, Lebanon, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, India, Cyprus, Slovenia, Sweden, and the United States; as well as citizens of Australia, Tunisia, South Africa, the Maldives, Myanmar, Cuba, the Vatican, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, and Egypt.

As a reminder, on February 28, Israel and the United States began strikes on Iran. Donald Trump announced the start of a large-scale military operation. In response, Iran launched attacks on Israel, American military facilities, and civilian targets in the Middle East, according to the Caucasian Knot report "The Main Impact of the Military Conflict with Iran on the Caucasus."

On March 5, a drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic injured four people. Ilham Aliyev called the attack "a deliberate terrorist act by Iran," and the Azerbaijani army was put on alert.

The drone attack was likely intentional, but Azerbaijan will initially limit itself to diplomatic and political measures, avoiding direct military escalation, analysts in Baku suggested. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the Islamic Republic did not strike Azerbaijan.
