A soldier from the Astrakhan region was killed in the SVO zone.

Vladimir Kostin was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 708 soldiers from the Astrakhan region have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by February 14, at least 707 soldiers  from the Astrakhan region were officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

Vladimir Kostin was born in the village of Nikolskoye, where he graduated from school. He served his military service in the Pacific Fleet in the Far East. After completing his military service, he remained in the same region, working on fishing vessels. Then he worked on a rotational basis. He signed a contract in the spring of 2025. He was killed in September of that year. He was 32 years old, the Yenotayevsky District administration reported today on its Telegram channel.

Thus, at least 708 fighters from the Astrakhan Region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Mounting for Southern Russia."

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "The combat veteran's certificate was issued only because Vasily had served in the Airborne Forces for three months under a contract with the military unit in Odintsovo," a relative of one of them said.
