The prosecutor's office has secured the confiscation of the assets of the former head of Vladikavkaz.

The Supreme Court of North Ossetia has seized the Moscow region property of former Vladikavkaz Mayor Makharbek Khadartsev, valued at approximately 169 million rubles, and transferred it to the state.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," Makharbek Khadartsev was the mayor of Vladikavkaz and the chairman of the Vladikavkaz Assembly of Representatives from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, from December 4, 2011, to September 19, 2014, he was a deputy of the State Duma of the sixth convocation from the United Russia faction. Before the 2021 State Duma elections, Khadartsev finished third in the United Russia primaries, criticized the voting process, and announced his resignation from the party.

The local prosecutor's office demanded the confiscation of Khadartsev's property. According to the agency, he acquired the properties located in the Moscow region while serving as the head of Vladikavkaz, and the value of the assets significantly exceeded his income.

These include two residential buildings measuring 1,308.3 and 573 square meters, a staff room and fireplace room measuring 417.5 square meters, a 125 square meter bathhouse, and other properties, including a gazebo, a sports ground, and a swimming pool. The prosecutor's office estimated the total value of this property at 168.8 million rubles.

The court of first instance dismissed the prosecutor's claim against Khadartsev, and subsequently, "judicial decisions in the case were repeatedly overturned." However, the Supreme Court of North Ossetia ultimately upheld the agency's claims. Khadartsev was unable to confirm the legality of the property acquisition, the prosecutor's office press service noted.

Maharbek Khadartsev registered ownership of a real estate complex in the Moscow region in 2018, but failed to reflect the acquisition in his income and expense declaration. In 2024, following a similar lawsuit filed by the prosecutor's office, his wife, Victoria Dzhatieva, had her 9,500 square meter land in the Vladikavkaz arboretum seized, Kommersant reports.
