Ziyavudin Ashikov complained about being denied permission to go to the front.

Former acting head of the Kaspiysk police department, Ziyavudin Ashikov, convicted of financing terrorism and attempting to assassinate a security official, requested three times to be sent to the war zone in Ukraine and was denied three times.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, former Makhachkala police chief Raip Ashikov and his brother, former acting head of the Kaspiysk police department, Ziyavudin Ashikov, were charged with financing terrorism and attempting to assassinate a security official. In December 2020, Raip Ashikov was also suspected of abuse of power. In September 2023, a court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Raip Ashikov to 14 years in prison, and Ziyavudin Ashikov to 12 years and six months in prison.

Ziyavudin Ashikov complained about repeated refusals to sign his military contract to representatives of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) of Dagestan, who visited Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1 in Makhachkala on February 19.

"Colonel Ziyavudin Ashikov stated that he applied to be sent to a special military operation zone three times, but was denied all three times," PMC head Shamil Khadulaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Ashikov, he is not the only former security officer denied release on the condition of participating in combat operations.

"According to Ashikov, similar requests are being received from other former employees in pretrial detention, but they are also being denied," Khadulaev added. He noted that the commission will send its findings on its visit to the pretrial detention facility and interviews with the defendants to the Dagestan prosecutor's office.

"Caucasian Knot" has repeatedly written about former security officers who, while under investigation, were sent to war zones. Thus, three years after the death of Kurban Dalgatov in the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs in Makhachkala, most of the security officials have still not been sentenced, while five of the accused were sent to the military operation zone in Ukraine.

In January, a Makhachkala court remanded in custody the former head of the Buinaksk district of Dagestan, Ullubiy Khanmurzaev, suspected of fraud. Earlier, the Buinaksk district administration announced the termination of Khanmurzaev's term as head of the district due to his "failure to fulfill his duties in resolving local issues" for more than three months. This decision was supported by 43 district council deputies. Khanmurzaev objected to the dismissal of contract soldiers stationed in the SVO zone, which is contrary to the Labor Code. He recalled that, when leaving for the SVO, he assigned the duties of the head of the district to his deputy. On January 19, Ullubiy Khanmurzaev was detained on suspicion of corruption.
