A Dagestani resident received a suspended sentence for extremism.

The Sovetsky City Court of Makhachkala sentenced Derbent resident Islam Akhmedov to two years' probation for public calls for extremist activity.

According to investigators, in March 2024, Derbent resident Akhmedov posted audio material containing extremist statements, as well as propaganda of hatred and violence based on religion, on his public Telegram channel, accessible to other users.

The Sovetsky City Court of Makhachkala found the man guilty of public calls for extremist activity 1 and sentenced him to two years' probation and a two-year ban on activities related to online publications, the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for Dagestan.

The report does not specify whether Akhmedov admitted his guilt or the reason for the suspended sentence.

According to the case file on the Sovetsky City Court website, the convicted person is Islam Akhmedov. The case was received by the court on September 17, 2025, and the guilty verdict was handed down by Judge Izrattin Khavayev.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a court in Makhachkala sentenced a Derbent resident to probation after finding him guilty of publicly calling for extremism online.
