A Dagestani resident's terrorism charges have been increased.

A Dagestani woman previously accused of preparing a terrorist attack is also accused of training in terrorism and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," a terrorist attack against law enforcement officers planned for May 9, 2025, was prevented in Dagestan, the FSB reported on May 2. The woman who prepared it has been detained and arrested.

Investigators from the FSB Department for Dagestan have opened a criminal case under Article 205.3 of the Russian Criminal Code (training for terrorist activity) and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (organization of and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization). Each charge carries a prison sentence of ten to twenty years.

According to investigators, the suspect, under the influence of religious extremist ideology and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, intended to carry out an explosion at a monument in the village of Toturbyikala, Interfax reported today, citing the regional FSB press service.

For this purpose, the woman purchased components for an improvised explosive device online. However, she was unable to carry out her plan, and the suspect was detained.

The Dagestani resident had previously been charged with preparing a terrorist act, the agency clarified.

The official statement did not mention the name of the banned organization. Security forces are also not releasing the suspect's first and last name.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a military court sentenced Dagestani native Khaskil Yaganov to 17 years in prison for involvement in a terrorist organization, finding him guilty of plotting a terrorist attack against non-Muslims. Yaganov denied his guilt.
