Three soldiers from the Astrakhan region were killed in a military operation.

Kairat Karachekeev, Boris Kaliyev, and Makhambet Aitaliev from the Kamyzyak district were killed in combat operations in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 688 soldiers from the Astrakhan region have been recognized as killed in it.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by January 28, at least 685 soldiers from the Astrakhan region were officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

In the Kamyzyak district, awards were presented to the families of three soldiers killed in the military operation, the district administration reported on its Telegram channel. "Kamyzyak servicemen Kairat Karachekeev, Boris Kaliyev, and Makhambet Aitaliev were awarded state awards," the publication states.

Authorities have officially recognized more than 8,550 fighters from southern Russia as killed in the military operation.

At least 4,213 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,344 from the Southern Federal District have been recognized by authorities and security forces as killed during the military operation in Ukraine.

Kairat Karachekeyev from the village of Semibugry went to the combat zone in 2023 and served as a private. He was killed in January 2025.

Boris Kaliyev, a veteran of the internal affairs agencies and a former criminal investigation officer, "volunteered" for the military operation zone, the report says.

Makhambet Aitaliev served as a rifleman in a rifle battalion and died in April 2025, the publication notes.
