The wife of Sochi Mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky has appealed the transfer of an apartment on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow to the state, claiming that it is the only home for her four minor children.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, at the end of October, the court accepted the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office, which demanded the seizure of 14 apartments, land plots, cars, and other property belonging to Alexei and Yanina Kopaigorodsky and individuals and organizations associated with them. The defense of the former Sochi mayor called the agency's demand baseless. In January, the court converted assets to state revenue, including 77 real estate properties, including in Moscow.

Yanina Kopaigorodskaya's lawyers have filed an appeal against the Khostinsky Court's decision to seize the family's assets for the state. Kopaigorodskaya expressed disagreement with the seizure of her apartment on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow, Utrenny Yug reported on January 25.

Kopaigorodskaya claims that the Moscow apartment is the only home for her four minor children. In the lawsuit, the lawyers also point out that the guardianship authority, which was supposed to protect the children's rights, was not involved in the asset seizure process.

Lawyer Elizaveta Metkina stated that "the court is obliged to evaluate the proportionality and consequences of interference in the housing rights of minors" and should not have allowed the children to be deprived of their only home.

The defense also drew attention in the lawsuit to the fact that property worth more than a billion rubles, which Yanina Kopaigorodskaya took from banks before her marriage to Alexei Kopaigorodsky, was seized for the benefit of the state.
