A Chechen prisoner was killed in a war zone after complaining to Kadyrov.

Anzor Chergizov, a native of the village of Shalazhi, was forcibly sent to the war zone from the penal colony shortly before the end of his sentence, having previously complained about the actions of the institution's administration.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, inmates of a maximum-security penal colony in Chechnya in March appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov with a collective complaint against the institution's management, after which they were subjected to reprisals and deprived of food. Human rights activists suggested that the prisoners' appeal to Kadyrov could result in additional punishment. The republican department of the Federal Penitentiary Service denied information about the prisoners' complaints.

The Telegram channel BAQO reported today, citing his relatives, that 48-year-old Anzor Chergizov, who was sent to the war zone from a prison colony in Chechnya, has been buried in his native village of Shalazhi. According to Chergizov's sister, the family has been trying for months to have Anzor's body, who was killed in the spring, released for burial.

Chergizov's death certificate lists the date of death as May 1, 2025, and the place as Krasnoe, a village in the Donetsk region. The last time Anzor Chergizov contacted his relatives was April 19, 2025, according to the publication. A copy of the death certificate cited by the channel has not been published.

According to relatives, Chergizov, who was serving a 22-year sentence in a penal colony for involvement in illegal armed groups, complained of systematic monetary extortion by the administration, a practice that was also applied to other prisoners.
