Residents of the Belorechensky District of Krasnodar Krai are being asked to move to temporary accommodation centers due to a large-scale power outage. A state of emergency has been declared in the district. Residents are outraged by the authorities' failure to promptly respond to a forecast of heavy snowfall and to organize water delivery and road clearing.

According to "Kavkazsky Uzel," approximately 43,000 residents of Kuban were left without power due to the snowfall. Emergency outages also affected several railway stations in Krasnodar Krai, delaying approximately 50 trains.

Due to incoming calls from individual residents, a decision has been made to house residents in two temporary accommodation centers in Belorechensk. The combined capacity of these centers is 1,100 people. Hot meals and bottled water distribution have been organized, district head Sergey Sidorenko announced today.

On December 31, power was cut off to nearly 85,000 customers in 63 settlements in the district. Repair work is currently ongoing, the district head specified.

The head of the neighboring Apsheronsk district Alexey Peredereyev reported that power is currently completely or partially out in 15 settlements, including Apsheronsk. "The situation remains difficult," the official noted. A high alert regime is in effect in the district.

The Krasnodar Krai Administration reported on the afternoon of January 1 that approximately 43,000 residents of the region remained without power as of 2:00 PM Moscow time. Power outages also affected the Kurganinsky and Tuapse districts. In Sochi, the main consequences of the severe weather had been cleared by midday, Kommersant reported today.

More than 1,000 Russian Railways employees have been deployed to help clear the snowfall on the railway in the Krasnodar Krai, the company reported. Its subsidiary, Federal Passenger Company, reported that it provided more than 17,500 meals to passengers on dozens of trains delayed due to severe weather in Kuban. Train service in the region is being organized on a temporary basis, the publication noted.

Social media users are outraged by the lack of power

In the comments to a post by the head of the Belorechensky District, Sergei Sidorenko, about the situation in the district, subscribers demanded clarity on the restoration of power.

"When will the power be back in the city?" - asked subscriber Dubuk.

"Yuzhny - when will there be power, water, and warmth? It's impossible to get to the temporary accommodation point," wrote Galina Zherebilova.

"Similar question! Give an approximate timeframe for restoration! What can we even expect?" - repeated RR.
