A resident of Karachay-Cherkessia has been accused of justifying terrorism.

A court in Karachay-Cherkessia will hear the case of a local resident accused of publicly justifying terrorism based on a video and a comment on a messenger app.

The First Department for Investigating Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Department for Karachay-Cherkessia has completed its criminal investigation into the local resident.

According to investigators, in February 2025, the man posted a video file on a popular online resource, accompanied by his verbal statements justifying and promoting terrorist activity, the press service of the Investigative Committee for the region reported today.

He is accused of publicly calling for terrorist activity and publicly justifying and promoting terrorism. 1 .

"The evidence collected during the investigation was deemed sufficient to send the criminal case to court with an approved indictment," the press service said in a statement.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a military court in St. Petersburg sentenced Eldar Kabardaev, a native of Karachay-Cherkessia, to six years in prison for calls for extremism. Kabardaev claimed in court that he wrote the comments at the behest of security forces.
