The director of a Baku clinic has been arrested in connection with the deaths of three people.

A Baku court has remanded in custody a clinic director suspected of violating fire safety regulations. The fire killed three people, and another 25 required medical attention.

The Binagadi District Court of Baku granted the investigation's motion and remanded in custody for four months the director of the Loft Dent clinic, Bahruz Pashayev, who was detained in connection with the deaths of three people in a fire in a multi-story residential building in the Yasamal district, haqqin.az reports.

According to investigators, the fire killed three people, poisoned 25 others, and caused property damage.

The basement and first floor of the building were rented by a company for the clinic, and as director, Bahruz Pashayev was responsible for complying with fire safety regulations. However, according to investigators, he committed violations that, through negligence, led to serious consequences.

The case is being investigated under Article 225.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (violation of fire safety regulations, resulting in the death of two or more people through negligence), the publication writes.

A fire occurred on November 21 in the basement of a building on Mirali Seidov Street. It resulted in the deaths of Samir Magomedov, born in 1984, a child born in 2018, and the director of the House of National Clothing, Kenul Humbatova, born in 1977, APA reports.

According to relatives, Humbatova's daughter, Laman, was among the victims; she was hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute poisoning in serious condition.

The fire was extinguished on the night of November 22, and the residents were evacuated. Some of them decided to spend the night with relatives, while the rest stayed in temporary accommodation centers, the agency writes.
