The number of fighters from southern Russia killed in Ukraine has exceeded 8,000.

Authorities and security forces have officially named at least 3,979 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,028 from the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by November 14, government and security officials had officially acknowledged at least 7,950 fighters from southern Russia killed in the military operation: at least 3,942 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,008 from the Southern Federal District.

According to the "Caucasian Knot," by November 21, government and security officials had officially acknowledged at least 8,000 fighters from southern Russia killed in the military operation: 3,979 from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,028 from the Southern Federal District.

Dagestan continues to bear the brunt of the death toll—1,688. The deaths of 842 fighters from Stavropol Krai, 517 from North Ossetia, 329 from Kabardino-Balkaria 1 , and 251 from Chechnya 2 , 176 - from Karachay-Cherkessia and the same number from Ingushetia.

Among the regions of the Southern Federal District, the Volgograd Region has the highest number of deaths (1,506). Also confirmed dead were 795 soldiers from Krasnodar Krai, 765 from Rostov Oblast, 650 from Astrakhan Oblast, 190 from Kalmykia, and 127 from Adygea.

North Caucasus Military Operations Statistics: Casualties Mounting in Southern Russia

Since the beginning of the North Caucasus Military Operations, authorities and security forces have reported casualties in the territories and regions of southern Russia, as well as in the republics of the North Caucasus. "Caucasian Knot" maintains general casualty statistics for the regions of the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts, based on official data.

It should be noted that actual casualties among North Caucasus security forces may be significantly higher than officially acknowledged. This situation is typical for all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, but is especially acute in Chechnya. In February 2023, Kadyrov called on regional leaders not to disclose the number of those killed. "I don't understand when regional leaders trumpet the number of those killed in the SVO zone. My question is: why? They write everything in minute detail... There's no need to manipulate the topic of our heroes, writing that so many died in this region, and so many in another," he said.

As a reminder, the first official to report the death of a Russian soldier in the SVO zone was the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he said that officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov had been killed in Ukraine.
