The sentence in Dzhabiev's case was appealed by the convicted men and the Prosecutor General's Office of South Ossetia.

All parties to the Inal Dzhabiev murder trial were dissatisfied with the verdict. Following the victims, the South Ossetian Prosecutor General's Office and the convicted individuals appealed it.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on October 2, the Tskhinvali City Court found guilty all defendants in the Inal Dzhabiev death case. Five of them were sentenced to terms ranging from three to five years in prison: three (Dzhumber Bibilov, Alan Bagayev, and Andrei Dzhioyev) were arrested in the courtroom, and two others were given credit for time served in custody. The court imposed fines on two former security officials, but released them due to the statute of limitations. After the verdict was announced, about 10 relatives of the convicted men gathered in the central square in Tskhinvali. The South Ossetian prosecutor's office promised to appeal the case. On October 16, it was reported that the verdict was appealed by the Dzhabiev family's lawyer.

The verdict in Inal Dzhabiev's case did not satisfy all parties, South Ossetian Prosecutor General Grigory Sobayev stated on October 27 during a meeting between the republic's president and law enforcement officials, according to the state news agency "Res."

According to Sobayev, appeals against the verdict were filed by both the victims and the prosecutor's office, as well as the convicted persons themselves. "That is, the verdict has been appealed by all parties—the convicts, the victims, and the prosecutor's office," the Prosecutor General stated.
