Detention of Yakhya Magomedov outrages social media users

Social media users have expressed their outrage over the detention of Yakhya Magomedov, the Imam of the Khasavyurt Central Mosque. They recalled his confrontation with the Muftiate and drew parallels with the criminal prosecution of Imams in Ingushetia.

Netizens have reacted to the Imam’s detention in their comments. "Probably, they failed to please the Muftiate," the user khiraevam has commented on the Magomedovs’ detention in the Instagram* public "ChP Dagestan". By 9:30 p.m. on April 27, the post in this public, which has 167,000 subscribers, had 10 comments. Similar comments appeared on the YouTube channel "Raz Kavkaz" under the post about the detention of the Imam and his son. "It was done with the Muftiate’s participation definitely," the user Muslim_585 has expressed his confidence.

"First Ingushetia, now Dagestan, who's next?" the user Makhach_19867 has asked in his comment on the YouTube channel "Raz Dagestan", where the post about the detention of the Imam and his son gained 222 comments.

Other users, on the contrary, have demanded a reaction from the Dagestani Muftiate to Magomedovs' detention.

"Why is the Muftiate silent?" the user Daud was indignant in the Telegram channel "Tut Dagestan", where the post about the above detentions gained 17 comments; he has also expressed the opinion that the Imam’s detention could be connected with his position. "He went against the official SAM (Spiritual Administration of Muslims, or Muftiate)," he wrote, suggesting that because of this, Yakhya Magomedov "became an authorities’ target."
