More than 1000 people request ICRF to take control of Seda Suleimanova’s case

Activists have sent 1011 appeals to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) with the demand to take control over the investigation into the Seda Suleimanova’s case. Signatures are being collected in Russian cities under an appeal to the country’s presidential administration in connection with the Seda Suleimanova’s disappearance in Chechnya.

Seda Suleimanova, a native of Chechnya, was detained in Saint Petersburg and taken to her relatives in Chechnya in August 2023. No messages have been received from the young woman since then. Human rights defenders fear that she has fallen victim to an “honour killing.”

“People used a special blank to send 1011 appeals to the Russian Investigating Committee with a request to take the investigation into the Seda Suleimanova’s case under federal control,” the “SK SOS”* Crisis Group reported.

On April 14, the Seda Suleimanova’s support group also began collecting signatures for an appeal demanding an investigation into the young woman’s case. Almost 1300 electronic signatures were collected on the first day of the campaign. The appeal is planned to be submitted to the Russian presidential administration.

Let us remind you that on March 20, Elena Patyaeva, a friend of Seda Suleimanova, who arrived to Grozny, held a solo picket. In her hands, the activist was holding a poster reading: “Where is Seda?” The police detained Elena Patyaeva, but did not draw up a protocol and released her.
