Convicted Nemtsov assassin transferred to Chechen colony

Khamzat Bakhaev, convicted for killing Nemtsov, has achieved his transfer from the Kirov Region of Russia to Chechnya, where his relatives live.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead in Moscow on February 27, 2015. On July 13, 2017, the court found the natives of Chechnya, Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Shadid Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev, guilty of committing the above murder and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 11 to 20 years.

Through the court, Khamzat Bakhaev has succeeded in getting a transfer to a penal colony located in Chechnya – closer to his home and relatives, the RIA “Novosti” has reported.

Bakhaev asked the FSIN (Russian Federal Penitentiary Service) to transfer him to a penal colony in another region, but was refused and went to court. The court has ruled that staying in a penal colony in the Kirov Region deprives the convict of the opportunity to maintain ties with his family – his wife, children, brother and sister.

Let us remind you that in August 2024, it became known that Tamerlan Eskerkhanov had signed a one-year contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and is at service in the assault squad. According to his story, the rest of those convicted within the case remain in jail.
