Lena Patyaeva holds action in support of her friend Seda Suleimanova, who went missing in Chechnya

Elena Patyaeva, a friend of Seda Suleimanova, who was taken to her relatives in Chechnya, has posted leaflets on the Kadyrov Bridge in Saint Petersburg.

“Lena has timed the today’s action to March 8,” the human rights project “Floor to Defence” has reported in its Telegram channel.

“The second March 8 without Seda ... Last year, I marked this day in a cell for my solo picket; and this time I limited myself to posting leaflets on the Kadyrov Bridge. Unlike solo pickets, as a rule, they don’t detain people for this,” Elena has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 31 this year, the court sentenced Elena Patyaeva, a Seda Suleimanova's friend, to 20 hours of compulsory work, treating her solo picket held on a bridge in Saint Petersburg as an unsanctioned public action. Patyaeva treated her detention as illegal, but noted that it "was as lenient as possible," and also complained that after the detention, an advocate was not allowed to see her.

Let us remind you that this January, Patyaeva complained to the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) about the inaction of the Chechen investigative bodies that were investigating Seda Suleimanova’s disappearance.

In April 2024, it became known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was investigating Suleimanova's disappearance under the murder article. Last June, Patyaeva stated that within the three months since the case was opened, investigators failed to come to any conclusions, and the inquiry was being sabotaged.
