Mother of missing athlete Tsomartova complains of threats of dismissal from MIA

The mother of Anna Tsomartova, a North-Ossetian athlete who went missing, has complained that she is being threatened with dismissal from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for criticizing law enforcement bodies for inefficient inquiry into her daughter's disappearance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Sovietsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don had refused to reinstate Nikolai Tsomartov in his position at the MIA, treating his statements about the investigation of his daughter's disappearance as criticism of the MIA. Tsomartov treats his dismissal as humiliating and illegal and decided to appeal against it in court.

"My husband has already been fired from the MIA, and they threat to do the same with me," Diana Tsomartova has stated in the video posted in the "Anna Tsomartova" Telegram channel.

She has also appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking him to take control of the disappearance case of Anna Tsomartova and to ensure the safety of her family.

"Since February 2024, a targeted harassment has been on against the Tsomartova large family by Internet resources, in which employees of law enforcement bodies may be involved," Diana's appeal says.

Let us remind you that the search for Anna Tsomartova has been ongoing since February 12, 2024. On March 2, Diana Tsomartova filed a complaint with the Dagestani branch of the Russian MIA, in which she stated that Gayana Garieva, the press secretary of the branch, had spread false information about her daughter's suicide. The investigators to whom the case was transferred became interested in a photo of a girl resembling Anna, taken in the UAE.
