Kadyrov orders to kill relatives of hiding criminals

If a person who has committed a crime against public safety or law enforcers is hiding, law enforcers must punish one of his relatives, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated, explaining this by Chechen traditions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 30, 2023, the head of Chechnya announced the prevention of mass riots in Chechnya, similar to those that broke out in Makhachkala. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, anti-Semitic actions were prevented with the help of the media, which "had warned residents." On October 31, Kadyrov instructed law enforcers to detain riot instigators, and, if a person ignores the police order, to kill him.

"Any attempt to commit an attack on a person's life will also affect the perpetrator's relatives ... Relatives must know what a member of their family is doing and bear responsibility for him," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

"If someone encroaches on public safety, on an employee or on a tourist, and even if we don't find the criminal, we won't go on searching for him, but will definitely find his relative. As has been customary from time immemorial, if one of relatives has done something wrong, and they failed to find the criminal, then they killed his brother or father. Therefore, we'll very quickly compensate for our blood feud," he has stated.

Kadyrov "has gone beyond his powers" and "in contradiction to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, publicly gives orders to law enforcers to kill suspects' relatives." "Ramzan is trying to encourage employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) ... to commit murders and introduce the blood feud in the 21st century. This is unacceptable and criminal!" the human rights project "Gulagu.Net" has written in its Telegram channel.
