In Grozny, law enforcers reprimand teenagers for blocking wedding processions

Police officers reprimanded a group of teenagers who blocked the passage of wedding corteges in order to receive monetary rewards according to the Chechen custom, and their parents were brought to justice, the “Grozny” ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) reported.

On October 24, on its page on Instagram, the “Grozny” ChGTRK posted a video report on preventive conversations by the police in Grozny with children blocking the wedding processions. The video report was accompanied with another video showing children running in front of cars from wedding corteges. Next, the report demonstrates law enforcers in a meeting room and then – a group of law enforcers talking to teenagers.

In the report broadcast by the “Grozny” ChGTRK, Timur Engenoev, the Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Grozny, said that over the past two weeks, 12 minors, who blocked the road to the wedding processions, were brought to the police. “Protocols on administrative violations were drawn up against their parents,” Timur Engenoev said.

In their comments to the video report, some Instagram users called it inappropriate to reprimand children for the tradition of blocking wedding processions. “The parents are fined, and the children are registered with the juvenile affairs police inspectorate. But the plan for violations will be fulfilled, and the state budget will be replenished. This custom has been around for a long time. But now everything is banned,” user novosibi.live wrote.

Other Instagram users supported the event of the police in Grozny. “This is just some kind of mess! They block the traffic, and the people who have nothing in common with the wedding processions are affected,” user __lyuchiya_ noted.
