Details of abduction of Dagestani girls from shelter become known

"The girls from Dagestan, who were forced away from the shelter in Kazan, had complained about persecutions by their husbands and relatives; and one of them of beatings," said Svetlana Anokhina. According to her story, the ties of the father of one of the girls, a well-known Dagestan religious preacher, helped to find them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 18 it became known that law enforcers forced two girls who had arrived from Dagestan away from the crisis centre located in Kazan and named "Mother's House".

The two natives of Dagestan, P., aged 21, and A., aged 20, turned to Anokhina about a year ago. The former complained of sexual abuse – her husband demanded "the fulfilment of his duty" regardless of the girl's condition. She also pointed to an extremely disrespectful attitude: according to the girl, relatives had ignored her and "pushed out of the way like a bedside table." The latter one, who has a two-year-old daughter, according to her story had been regularly beaten up by her husband, who responded to her father's complaint that his daughter "should go to her husband's house and die there."

The girls were raised in an artificial environment so as to be completely submissive and controlled – one of them even has no school education. Both girls were early married without their own consent.

At the same time, the girls stated that they did not want to sit on anyone's neck and wanted to find employment.

Svetlana Anokhina has noted that it is useless now to contact the police – the only way out is to make the case public.

According to Aida Mirmaksumova, the head of the "Fathers and Daughters" Project, after attacks on shelters, their employees had to strengthen the protection of their wards.
