Sautieva complains about protraction with her treatment at SIZO

Zarifa Sautieva, an Ingush activist, arrested under the case of creating an extremist community, has demanded to speed up the appointment of her treatment after being examined by doctors at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, 2021, Zarifa Sautieva was transferred from SIZO under house arrest, but on March 16, the Stavropol Territorial Court considered the prosecutor's appeal presentation and ruled to return Zarifa into custody. After that, the leaders of Ingush protests, accused under the case of the rally in Magas, went on a hunger strike and refused to take further part in the trial.

The case of Sautieva and six other Ingush protest leaders accused of creating an extremist community has been considered in court since November 2020. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* has recognized all the seven defendants as political prisoners.

Zarifa Sautieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the doctors examined her at the SIZO and conducted an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning.

"But no treatment has been prescribed yet. My back bone still hurts. After the examination, I needed another consultation of a neurologist, so that he could prescribe treatment, but this did not happen, and no treatment has been started yet. I told the head of the medical unit that I needed a consultation, but so far no results. He promises that they will do it, but when it is not clear," she said.
