Social media users dispute about reasons of claims against tourists in Dagestan

The criticism of a girl who appeared dressed in shorts in Dagestani mountains has angered some social media users, who stated that tourists have the right to dress as they please. In their turn, other commentators have noted that guests of Dagestan should respect the traditions that have developed in the local society.

On August 15, a video was posted in the Instagram public makhachkala.chp, in which a man criticizes a female tourist for wearing shorts. In the video, a young man dressed in shorts and a T-shirt and a girl in shorts, a T-shirt and a shirt are walking in front of a flock of sheep. The author of the video addressed the girl: "Dear, dear! This is your civilization, right? You wanted to show it to us? We do not like this civilization here in a public place."

In their comments, some of social network users have criticized the position of the author of the video, indicating that tourists have the right to look the way they like. "Dagestan is not a completely Muslim land; it is an international republic and belongs to Russia. Thus, these tourists are in their homeland," the user asidavudova has emphasized. "I don't understand why they shouldn't wear shorts? Everyone should dress, as it is convenient for them to walk. She doesn't wear pants," the user rasim_1977 has noted.

However, a number of users have supported the author of the video. "Brother does the right thing; let him make remarks to everyone; and we must take an example from this brother," the user rizvan3008 has written.
