Two residents of Azerbaijan detained for violating ban on visiting Karabakh

In the Kelbadjar District, the police detained two residents who tried to enter the areas not cleared of mines in the Karabakh conflict zone, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in Azerbaijan, law enforcers regularly detain residents for violating the ban on visiting the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh that came under the control of Azerbaijan and where the combat actions took place during the autumn escalation of the conflict. So, on July 1, six residents of the Kelbadjar District (the Armenian name is Karvachar, – note of the “Caucasian Knot) were detained for violating the ban.

On August 2, employees of the Kelbadjar District Police Department detained brothers Isa and Gabil Balakhanov, residents of Azerbaijan, who tried to enter the places in the Karabakh conflict zone where the combat actions took place, the “Report.az” reports today with reference to the Azerbaijani MIA.

The detainees were taken to the police department, and police officers drew up an administrative protocol against them and sent the case to the court for consideration, the “Azerbaycan24.com” reported with reference to the Azerbaijani MIA.

In 2020, as a result of the detonation of mines in Azerbaijan and the Karabakh conflict zone, six persons were killed, and eight others were injured, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reported.
