Missing Makhachkala resident found in SIZO

Timurlan Abakarov, a resident of Makhachkala, whose relatives had announced his kidnapping, was found in the SIZO (pre-trial prison). He is suspected of illegal arms possession, his advocate has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since July 28, Abakarov has not been out of contact; and extremist publications appeared in his social network page. Law enforcers are fabricating a criminal case against Abakarov, his relatives are sure.

One of Abakarov's sisters has suggested that her brother had been on the so-called "prophylactic register". This, in her opinion, was caused by the fact that one of Abakarov's acquaintances had left for Syria in 2019 and joined militants there; after leaving, he continued to communicate with Abakarov.

"Force was used against Abakarov, including electric current ... The firearms found on him, as he insists, doesn't belong to him," Israfil Gadadov, an advocate, has stated.

According to investigators, Abakarov was detained on July 28, and during a personal search, they found a revolver and a grenade on him. The suspect himself stated that unknown persons put him into a car, beat him up and took him to some unknown place. There, they began asking him about a certain Amin, about whom he knew nothing, and then tortured him with electric current.

In the evening, they brought Abakarov to the street, and before putting him out of the car, they tucked a firearm behind his belt and put a grenade into his backpack. "In doing so, they threatened me to confess that the pistol and the grenade belonged to me," the suspect has pointed out.
