Authorities’ report about water supply to villagers provokes criticism in Chechnya

The Kadyrov Foundation has held a charity event by organizing water supplies to residents of Chechen villages, the “Grozny” state-run TV Channel reported. The authorities should solve the problem of water supply to the villages by laying water pipes, local residents note.

On the night of July 20, on its Instagram page, the “Grozny” ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) posted a video about the help to villagers in Chechnya with the supply of water as part of a charity event held by the Kadyrov Foundation. The footage shows water carriers delivering water to villagers. It follows from the video that the water was delivered mainly to mountain villages.

In their comments, social media users expressed their indignation by the shortage of water supply. “We live in the 21st century. What water carriers do you show us? Why are we still not able to solve the problem with water supply to the villages? Water is needed everywhere and always and especially in summer. So, provide us with an uninterrupted flow of water through pipelines,” user abu_banat95 demanded. “And why is it not possible to supply water through the water supply system, like in normal countries? What is the obstacle?” user avtozapczasti asked.

“Why is there not enough water for all residents? Why do people have to buy water, as in wartime? And the authorities say we live well,” user dianalokotow expressed the indignation.

Other users reported in their comments that there was no water supply in their villages either. “The villages of Urus-Martan also face the same problem. There is a shortage of water every summer,” user imperatrica_.321 noted. “We have no water supply to our village of Duba-Yurt for three months already, and no one cares about that,” user iphone37564 complained.
